What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol. Cannabis, also known as marijuana, contains over 500 natural compounds. Cannabinoids make up at least 85-100 of these compounds. While some cannabinoids are psychoactive, others are not. Out of all the cannabinoids, two stand out: tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). THC is known for its psychoactive properties and is responsible for the “high” when smoking or ingesting marijuana. CBD does not have psychoactive properties and does NOT give a person that “high” feeling. Because of this, CBD has opened the door to the many medical applications of the Cannabis plant.
